Inflatable Pontoon FAQs

Big Sky Innovations does not compromise when it comes to quality. The base structure of our products are made with a 1.1mm thick PVC base, also known as Horsehair/Dropstitch, reinforced with a 2mm thick ribbed rubber matting at crucial points for added protection. The raw materials used are most durable, high-quality, non-toxic and UV resistant.

In addition to the materials we use, each model of our inflatable products have been shaped and designed with crucial measured dimensions to create optimum stability when installed properly. We also have anchor points scattered around crucial points of these platforms for tying down where needed. We provide guidance on the best installation techniques for each model.

When inflated to our recommended PSI levels, our pontoons are as HARD as TIMBER.

Our pontoons easily inflate and deflate with the included pump of your choice. The set-up and pack-down time only takes a few minutes depending on the pump choice.

This depends on your power supply. We have a selection of pumps to accommodate: electric outlet, battery, or cigarette lighter plug. Refer to our pump description page for more details.

When deflated, our pontoons are handy to fold and roll into the carry bag provided. They will easily fit on the front seat of a car for transportation.

After use, clean and dry the surface with a microfibre cloth. Do not use industrial cleaning products.

When using your pontoon outdoors, the change in climate temperature will affect the air pressure inside your pontoon. It is law of nature that hot air takes up more space than cold air, therefore, if your pontoon feels like it’s loosing air, it’s most likely that the outside temperature has dropped. For example, if you’ve pumped up your pontoon in the hot afternoon sun, the pontoon will loose slight pressure as the temperature drops in the evening when it’s cool. Don’t worry about this as it is not leaking air, but you can still regulate the pressure as needed. If your pontoon looses pressure at an usually high rate, check the valve as it could be too loose. Try to tighten the valve with the valve tool that is included in the repair kit provided.

The valve is built to open up automatically when attaching the pump to it. However, it must be closed off manually to stop airflow once you’re finished pumping. To close the valve, press the small button in the middle of the valve as soon as you release the pump nozzle from the valve.

Our pontoons are extremely strong and would require great force by a sharp object to cause a puncture in it. In the rare event that you should puncture a hole in your pontoon, this can be fixed with the Repair Kit and instructions provided with each pontoon.
